The Hokies will face the best team in the whole tournament.
Michigan State is ranked number one in the ESPN Preseason Top 25. The Spartans have the best player in college basketball with Cassius Winston and a lot of experience on their team this year.
This will be a great test for the Hokies early on in the season with a new coach.
Mike Young is the new head coach for Virginia Tech. Before being hired by Virginia Tech, Young was the head coach for Wofford. While at Wofford, Young led the Terriers to 5 NCAA Tournaments.
The Maui Invitational will be a great chance for Virginia Tech fans to see what Coach Young and the Hokies are made of.
If the Hokies win their quarterfinal matchup with Michigan State, they will face the winner of Georgia vs Dayton. And if the Hokies lose, they will face the loser.
Win or lose, they will be able to get some good experience and play some tough teams early in the season.
