Class of 2020 Center Hunter Dickinson Talks About His USA Basketball Experience

Class of 2020 center Hunter Dickinson attended the USA Men’s U19 World Cup Team Training Camp this past week in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Although Dickinson was not a finalist, he was able to use this as a learning experience.

“It was a great experience to be able to play against college players and learn what I need to do,” Dickinson said. “I will definitely come back and work on everything that I was lacking and improve.”

Dickinson showed his ability to play inside and outside the paint on offense and his ability to rebound the ball on both offense and defense.

Dickinson is a 7’1 center from Alexandria, Virginia. He is one of the top basketball players from the area.

“It’s great to represent Alexandria because I take pride in being from there,” Dickinson said.

Dickinson attends Dematha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. This past season, Dickinson was named to the WCAC All Conference Team and helped lead Dematha to an Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament championship.

Team Takeover is the team that Dickinson plays for in the summer. With Team Takeover, Dickinson plays in the EYBL. Last summer, Dickinson helped lead a loade Team Takeover to a Peach Jam Championship. Dickinson scored 15 points and 5 rebounds in Team Takeovers 96-78 win over Team Why Not in the championship.

The lefty has great touch for a big man and can extend his shot to out past three point line. And he still has a year of high school to help him develop his game. He certainly could be an immediate impact for a college team in a year.

When asked which teams were recruiting him the hardest, Dickinson said Michigan, Louisville, Notre Dame, Purdue, Providence, Pittsburgh, Iowa, Alabama, and Vanderbilt.

Dickinson has already visited Louisville, Notre Dame, Purdue, and Pittsburgh. But he definitely could visit a few more before deciding on his commitment.
